Sage Lovell (they/she) is an artist, writer, educator, and entrepreneur. Being Deaf, Queer, Disabled, and Neurodivergent; they are an artist who likes to work their magic, using different art mediums to shift perspectives and spaces.

Over the past decade, Sage has worked with different communities in multiple capacities to develop meaningful work that continues to evolve. With their multitude of talents, they were able to incorporate their passion for interweaving media, language, performance, and accessibility into works of art.

In 2017, Sage won the Youth Arts Pitch Contest without the presence of an interpreter, where they typed their winning speech on the PowerPoint, forcing everyone to read their own words, which pointed out the reality of daily experiences of Deaf people.

Between 2017-2022, Sage also worked on the “Deaf, what?” project with skilled Deaf photographer Alice Lo, where they documented more than 50 stories of Deaf people across Canada.

In 2019, Sage was a finalist for the Community Arts Award under the Toronto Arts Foundation. In 2020, Sage was featured as one of the participants of Start Up And Slay by How She Hustles (Emily Mills). That same year, Sage also hosted Deaf Interiors with Deaf Artist Peter Owusu Ansah, where we compensated and spotlighted the artworks of emerging Deaf Artists from across Canada.

Sage is well-known for their creative ability to produce beautiful English to ASL translations and for their grant writing magic.
