Raine Hamilton Trio with ASL Poetry by Tamyka Bullen
Canadian Folk Music Award winner Raine Hamilton will perform soon in Ontario. She will be performing live concerts of songs and stories with ASL interpretation. ASL poet Tamyka Bullen will perform two of her beautiful pieces as well.
Raine believes that art is for everyone, and wants to see the arts become accessible to all. In consultation and collaboration with the Deaf community, she started performing ASL interpreted concerts in 2017 in her hometown of Winnipeg. She has recently been able to perform ASL interpreted concerts in other communities across Canada, and she plans to do that more and more. Raine explains: “Art is powerful, and I want everyone who feels drawn to art and music to have access to it, and to the community that comes with it.”
Raine’s songs and stories are both earthly and otherworldly; She shares art that is vulnerable and relatable at the same time. She also reaches and stretches as an artist, looking towards the beautiful parts of life.
The concert will be fully interpreted into ASL, and anyone who is interested is invited. Seats will be reserved for the Deaf community, right in front of the interpreter.
