TRANSCRIPT: CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS: SUMMERWORKS PERFORMANCE FESTIVAL 2019
Artists, dreamers, innovators and change makers: we want to work with you.
SummerWorks is a place for you to explore new territory, to take up space, be heard and take creative risks. We’re seeking proposals for our 29th edition, August 8th – 18th 2019. Proposals are encouraged from creators across all disciplines and artistic traditions. You may apply with more than one project, and more than one category.
SummerWorks seeks proposals for new and experimental performance projects ready for presentation in August 2019. This stream offers a chance to share finished work with a wider audience and a platform for work to reach further success.
We encourage proposals from established and emerging artists in theatre, dance, music, live art, interdisciplinary art, and hybrid forms. Works in all settings are welcome. Works may have previous workshops or presentations. Of particular interest are approaches and ideas that are new for the artist and/or medium.
SummerWorks Lab is a place for exploration and experimentation. We want to support new works in development, developing connections between artists and audiences. SummerWorks invites proposals for performance projects at a crucial stage of development as well as experiments that will use the Festival to incubate and test new ideas. Of particular interest are projects that will benefit from audience engagement and feedback to inform the future of the work.
SPECIAL PROJECT : PUBLIC WORKS*
What makes public space? What is the power of the public to make change? SummerWorks invites artists to consider new possibilities in the public sphere. How do we create new realities together? What could be uncovered, reimagined or reclaimed? Of particular interest are projects that engage with the landscape of the city or experiment with unconventional performance settings.
